Description

Travel 10 km from San Pedro de Atacama to a dark-sky area with very low light pollution, perfect for astrotourism. Enjoy a two-part Atacama Astrophotography Tour.

In the first part, the goal isn’t to give you an astronomy class, it’s to help you learn how to use a telescope with your own hands. For about 1 hour at the 5 telescopes' station, the guide uses a laser to point out and locate objects in the sky, and you’ll choose what you want to observe as you explore the night sky in real time. Along the way, you’ll get a clear and entertaining introduction to stellar evolution: why stars are born and what their life cycle is like. Everything is designed to be a hands-on, dynamic, and close-up experience focused on observing and enjoying the sky.

Second, join a photo session with the star-filled sky, and when conditions allow, the Milky Way as your backdrop. Leave with professional images from the Atacama Desert.

Important notes

• The tour operates with four (4) daily time slots that are released progressively. First, Time Slot 1 (the earliest departure) is opened. Once it is fully booked, Time Slot 2 becomes available, followed by Time Slot 3 and finally Time Slot 4.
  
• The order of activities may change without prior notice.
• There are 3 photos included per person under the stars. Delivered via download link within 4 business days.
• During periods of full moon the tour runs, but moonlight reduces star visibility and changes the photo style. Check your date’s moon phase.
• Pick-up & meeting point in Plazoleta Apacheta (ex Plaza Turistour):
  • Hotel Ckoi Atacama Lodge and Airbnbs on Pasaje Río Pacsa.
  • Lodgings outside the urban area, in ayllus (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor, Coyo) or in Toconao.
  • Lodgings on streets (pasajes) without vehicle access.
  • Historic center of San Pedro de Atacama (on dates with vehicle restrictions).
