What to bring
The sound of your crampons biting into the ice sets the rhythm for everything that follows. On this Minitrekking 2 (Extended) adventure, you'll hike across the ever-changing surface of Perito Moreno Glacier, where deep crevasses, towering seracs, and brilliant turquoise meltwater pools reveal a frozen landscape unlike anywhere else on Earth. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, this living glacier is constantly evolving, making every trek unique.
This activity is a more challenging version of the Minitrekking (Classic). It covers a total distance of 5.5 km, including 1 hour on the ice, with the remaining hiking time spent crossing rocks and moraine, as well as visiting the base of Cascada de las Cotorras. The trek takes approximately 4 hours in total. The difficulty level is moderate to high. The terrain is uneven but firm, and the pace is steady. Groups are limited to 20 people, with one guide for every 10 participants. We provide helmets and crampons to help ensure your safety. If you select the option with transfer from El Calafate, you’ll also visit the glacier walkways for 1 hour to enjoy a different perspective of the glacier. The tour operates from August through May, although departures in May are subject to weather conditions.
Small group sizes and the glacier's ever-changing landscape make every outing one of a kind. Book your Extended Minitrekking and experience Perito Moreno Glacier from the inside, far beyond what can be seen from the walkways.
